Founded by Metin Karaman in 2006, Karad has embarked on its journey with a design-oriented approach. By considering all branches of architecture as parts of a whole, Karad began its adventure with small-scale projects and has expanded to create architectural projects in various fields and scales, ranging from urban-scale projects to residential buildings. In addition to architectural projects, Karad offers design and production services for interior design projects, such as mansion decorations and furniture designs, focusing on tailored solutions that address the unique needs of each project.
Karad's architectural production journey consists of the stages of "place," "story," design, project, and manufacturing. Each stage builds upon the previous one, and any shortcomings or errors in these processes can create significant obstacles in achieving the right spaces and effective performance. The characteristics of the place, topography, and the dynamics of urban life here form the foundation of the architectural design process, while the shell and language of the space play an important role in decoration projects. By deeply understanding these needs, creative, sustainable, and identity-infused solutions can be produced.
Whether the user is social or individual, the education, hobbies, status, tastes, life perspective, and expectations acquired until the first contact with the office create the fundamental data for the design, outlining the project's story. Design can be seen as a process that resolves how this story can materialize and exist in our lives, while projects can be described as the translation of this design onto paper. The key to flawless and surprise-free production is the right project. This is akin to a painter's canvas or a musician's composition; each project tells a story, and every detail is an essential part of that story.
The production carried out in collaboration with stakeholders and specialized teams, managed meticulously through control systems at every stage, ensures that the right space or product is completed at the right time. This approach helps projects reach the highest standards in both aesthetics and functionality, aiming to turn users' dreams into reality. Karad continues its journey without compromising its principles, which emphasize developing unique and innovative designs that prioritize individual needs and expectations while harmonizing aesthetics and functionality with the experience gained and the expanding vision over the years.
Metin KARAMAN
Architect /faunder
Born in 1979 in Istanbul, Metin Karaman completed his high school education at Sakıp Sabancı Anatolian High School. After graduating from the Department of Architecture at Trakya University in 2001, he took his first step into the architectural profession he had dreamed of, joining the construction sector, a family tradition. After many years of serving as a design and project manager in several important projects within B-Design, he founded KARAD in 2006 to embark on his own design journey.
He views architecture not only as a technical discipline but also as a form of expression that shapes spaces and transforms them into art. In each project, he aims to explore the spirit of the spaces and the connections they establish with people. According to him, architecture is not merely about meeting functional needs; it is about creating spaces that will be lived in, felt, and leave a mark. By blending form, aesthetics, materials, emotions, and the relationship between them and space, he strives to tell a unique story in each of his projects.
In design, light serves as a tool that allows the space to breathe, while materials add depth to the story with their textures. The combination of these elements creates spaces that are experienced both visually and spiritually. He aims to carry a timeless and lasting aesthetic understanding into his projects by merging traces of the past with the vision of the future. In his view, every space is like a music player that can only be felt.
As the founder of KARAD, Metin Karaman is involved in architectural and interior design projects of various scales. He is also engaged in the production of quality housing through the KARMEP company, which continues the family business. In the future, he aims to combine architectural practice with principles of sustainability and social benefit, creating structures that better integrate people and the environment. In each project, he seeks not only aesthetic value but also to provide a meaningful experience for users. With this vision, he is determined to continue his architectural journey
